NURSING: Find Research Articles

The NCC library databases on this page have the most nursing content. Search in them individually from the links below.

If you need help searching, contact the NCC librarian. She can help you narrow or broaden your topic and choose the best search terms.

To research efficiently, watch the video on this page about analyzing the scholarly articles you find. You do not need to read every word of a scientific article.

CINAHL

Start Here: Choose CINAHL Ultimate. In the advanced view, you can specify nursing journals. See "Journal Subset." Select "Nursing."

Power searching tip: View a short video tutorial about searching in CINAHL using MESH headings. That method is more precise than using keywords. The video still shows the older CINAHL interface, not the new one from Summer 2024.

OVID

OVID searching tip: See videos about searching nursing journals in OVID. Introduction to OVID (19 minutes long) is a good place to start.

Nursing and Allied Health (ProQuest)

Save yourself time when you read research articles. Watch this 4-minute orientation.

Although we do not have immediate full-text access to all articles, we can request articles from other academic libraries. In EBSCO databases such as CINAHL, an interlibrary loan request form--already populated with article and journal information-- appears when you click on "Request this item through interlibrary loan." Add your contact information and submit. We will let you know within 2 business days (usually sooner!) whether we can get a copy for you.

For other databases including OVID, please contact the library at ncclibrary@ccsnh.edu.
