NCC faculty, when possible, are increasingly choosing no- and low-cost (NOLO) texts and other course materials. NOLO courses are then flagged in SIS and the online course schedule so that students are aware of them.
When a textbook or other resource is both free (no-cost) and openly-licensed it is considered an OER. Because of its open license, an OER can usually be customized or "remixed" by faculty.
NOLO course = course with required materials (excluding equipment or fees) under $40
OER = Open Educational Resources = free and openly-licensed course materials
Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) = a course using OER and or one that has no required texts
This guide shows OERs that have been adopted by NCC instructors as of December 2023. This information is subject to change.
See the Faculty section of this website for more information about NOLOs and OERs at NCC.
The library adds all NCC OERs to the NH Open OER Commons Hub which features OER texts in use at CCSNH and USNH colleges. If you know of an OER used at NCC that we missed, please email Fran Keenan or Troy Nikander at ncclibrary@ccsnh.edu.
